Approved, Demolished, Then Denied How Allstate Abandoned My 80 Year Old Aunt

Approved, Demolished, Then Denied How Allstate Abandoned My 80 Year Old Aunt
My 80-year-old aunt had her kitchen floors and subfloor torn up under an approved claim—only for Allstate to abruptly deny coverage right before work began on both bathrooms.

I am deeply disappointed and outraged by Allstate and how they are handling my 80-year-old aunt’s insurance claim.

My aunt suffered moisture damage to her kitchen and bathroom floors. The repair work was initially approved by Allstate, and the demolition crew arrived and began the job. They tore up the kitchen flooring and removed one layer of the subfloor, leaving the kitchen in total disarray and completely unusable.

"I don't understand how Allstate could approve the work, allow the demolition to begin, and then stop the repairs after her floors had already been torn apart."

Demolished and Abandoned Mid-Job

I was physically present in the house and witnessed the exact phone call when Allstate delivered the news. Even the demolition crew on-site was stunned and amazed at how callously Allstate could pull the plug on an approved claim, leaving an elderly customer stranded in a hazardous disarray.

As of October 2nd—just as the crew was about to start demolition on both of her bathrooms—they were abruptly ordered to pack up and stop because Allstate denied the claim.

Now my aunt is left with a torn-up kitchen floor, exposed subfloor, and a hazardous mess that renders essential areas of her home unusable.

Unacceptable Negligence for an Elderly Policyholder

Allowing a demolition crew to rip up an 80-year-old woman's kitchen floor under an approved claim—only to halt all work right before starting on the bathrooms—is an egregious failure of corporate responsibility. This situation is causing my elderly aunt immense stress and physical hardship.

This situation is still actively ongoing, and we are deeply disappointed with how Allstate has handled it. We demand immediate accountability and for Allstate to finish what they allowed to be started.
